While there are many LS variants, the LS4 is recommended for the following reasons.
- Extremely compact accessory drive
- Most affordable aluminum block true LS variant
- Good (243) Cylinder heads
- Strong Gen 4 internals
- Commonly lower mileage
With this being said, the LSx option offers a kit for use with non-LS4 LS variants. This option does not include a flywheel and adapter plate, it can be purchased HERE
This kit is NOT compatible with iron block LS variants.
This kit utilizes the 6 speed transaxle sourced from a 99-04 Porsche 911 Carrera and is recommended to be limited at 550ft-lbs of torque. This option is for someone with an aggressive heads/cam setup and/or increased displacement over a 5.3L. This transaxle will also support mild amounts of forced induction when the transaxle is equipped with a limited slip differential.
